Paintings: Julie Clarke May 2012

I've completed the following paintings in the period 16 May onwards. I've used Matisse Structure professional acrylic paint on canvas and although I've been quite captured by the colorful array of Autumn leaves over the past few weeks, I can't say that I had anything specific in mind whilst painting. Some paintings are sold or on hold for prospective buyers, please check below.

  2. Oh, is that what they are called, they are beautiful. I've just posted the painting I did today and feel like I'm painting and writing simultaneously.

  3. Numbers 1 & 4 appeal to me most- it must be the mysterious blue pathways. I feel that the pathways have evolved into neuronal networks by No. 6 and they're too realistic for me! You never know what people will bring to their experience of your art.
I haven't the faintest idea why I've sold two glass works in the past 2 weeks from a gallery where I had almost forgotten I had placed the items! Whatever- I'm glad someone liked whatever pieces they were- no titles on the deposit slips so I've no info about what the market wants at the mo!

  4. I was thinking myself that the paintings were indicative of some kind of mental activity because I wasn't actually trying to depict anything. I like your 'neuronal pathways' observation, itt really appeals to me and fits in with some small paintings I did last year called Synapse. Thanks for making such a great comment.

  5. Julie, you have been prolific, there is a sense of the frenzy about these paintings. It's a good exercise to get it all out, a purging of kinds. No 6 could be a Russian constructivist composition.

I'm also seeing neuronal pathways. Now it's been said, it's hard not to see that reference. Lots of brain activity certainly, a busy intellect articulated visually. No 3 is a calmer composition to my eyes, less frantic. It is the only one without urgent orange.

  6. Thank you for your valuable comment. I actually see orange as a Buddhist color and one that conveys passion as well as the colors that I've been seeing in Autumn leaves. Russian constructivist - all that use of masking tape to make hard edged lines!!!

  8. Lauren - I assume you are referring to the one with the thick, black angled lines? Of course, I'm happy to sell my paintings, indeed, welcome it. All the paintings are for sale. Ring me and we will negotiate a price. Julie
