Human rights

Democracy gives us a right to protest and the city of Melbourne was inundated yet again with people whose actions meant that police had to close off roads and force trams to stand dead still for five hours yesterday. I met a friend in the city and after buying coffee at the Koko Black kiosk we had to walk past the crowd of Free Julian Assange protestors up to the NGV. Not a problem, but an hour later we had to walk back into the city past anti-mandates, anti-government, anti-abortion, etc, protestors, just one group of many over the grid. There were no trams so I decided to walk home. Luckily they began to run around 4 pm. I'd walked to the MCG so was pleased not to have to walk in the cold wind.

On a happier note the immense two chanel video by Richard Mosse on the destruction of the Amazon Forest, thrd floor at the NGV was absolutely brilliant and intense, worth consideration.

  1. great about the exhibition you saw, I was in CBD too and had to walk a very long way due to no trams. I was at the NGV at around 4pm. Lauren
