It was lovely to catch up with Liz and Lloyd Jones this afternoon at the Wheeler Centre for Books, Writing and Ideas. I hadn't seen them for about four years. Liz has been Artistic Director and CEO of LaMama Theatre in Carlton since the seventies and together with her husband Lloyd Jones they have been vital in encouraging creativity in our community. I appreciated that she was introduced as a 'significent elder' from our community. After her short talk and question time I took some photographs of people outside the State Library of Victoria. Many were watching people play chess with large chess pieces. But mostly people were eating lunch, checking their iPhones and chilling out (literally).
