Autumn (for want of a better title)

A concept is a brick (from D&G) 16 X 9 cm: Autumn leaves cut and pasted on paper: Julie Clarke 2012

Flight, or recombination, Autumn leaves on Arches Watercolor paper. Julie Clarke 29012
Wave. Autumn leaves, cut & pasted onto paper. 27 X 9 cm. Julie Clarke 2012

Leaf shards in Gel Medium on cartridge paper. A4. Julie Clarke 2012

I constructed these small works on paper (the size is only the area taken up by the leaves) over the past few days after walking around and picking up Autumn leaves. I've already posted them on Face Book, but have posted them here for friends not on that particular social media site. The trunks of trees almost always look to me like bodies and the internal structure of leaves reminiscent of electron-microscopy of our own bodily interiors. These works to me are conceptual, bodily, ecological but also address form color & aesthetics.

  1. Twas grand to see these images in-the-flesh. I hope you're able to preserve them somehow such that they survive into at least the near future.

  2. They have not deteriorated. They are exactly as they were, probably because they are inside and not exposed to air or sunlight. (Smile)
