Due to a technical difficulty Mark McDean was unable to post this entry. So here it is.
I want to see you game boys. I want to see you brave & manly and I also want to see you gentle & tender. Be practical as well as generous in your ideals. Keep your eyes on the stars and keep your feet on the ground, Courage, hard work, self mastery & intelligent self effort are all essential to a successful life. Character in the long run is the decisive factor in the life of a individual and nations alike.

Have to admit I like the men in my life to be like girls and the girls in my life to be like boys. What do I mean by that? I love balance and believe that we all have 'so called' masculine and feminine attributes.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see this here. From a screen printing I did so many years ago. This was appropriated from T. Roosevelt I believe. You can see the quote in the main hall fo the American Museum of Natural History, NYC.

Chris, Is this your screen print? I thought that it was only the quote that was yours. I should place your name underneath image in that case. So lovely to hear from the artist - I will certainly be emailing Mark so that he know you have made this post. Cheers Julie
ReplyDeleteChris, it has totally made my year to see your response to my latest blog entry. Julie and I have been friends for years and now she is my phd supervisor and co-collaborator on the Collision Project [refer other posts to get an idea of what we are doing]. Your work has been seminal in my fine art study, both my MA and now I am 'going through the archive' and remediating special texts. I am fully aware that this blog is not a communications arena but, I would love to have your email for further contact. Thank you JC Mark
ReplyDeletesorry for such delay -- this comes up as I search for my name occasionally to see whats out there. I really should set up a googles alerts. addy - cgb@borrok.com I am shocked you are even aware of this text - and screenprint(s) I had made of the text. The image posted is not my work or part of my artwork at all. The Teddy Roosevelt quote I appropriated for some works back in the early '90s. I took a long Hiatus from creating any work, but I am creating again and in a graduate program at SVA for photography.
ReplyDeleteI'll pass your message onto Mark. Thanks, Julie
