Crescent moon over Hawthorn

Crescent moon. Photo: Julie Clarke (2011)

This view of the waxing crescent moon was taken by me during sunrise on Saturday 30 April 2011 around 7.50 am. The milk-white demi-lune, a tiny trace of illumination amidst the orange clouds that softly caressed the deep grayish-purple backdrop was beautiful in it's simplicity. I just had to share it with you and hope it helps brighten this otherwise rainy Melbourne day. A wet and bedraggled Magpie turned up to be fed and has now flown away. Another one warbles in the cold morning air. It's quiet here. The first Camellia flower has bloomed which heralds I think, coming Winter chills.
