I was sorry to hear that Elizabeth Taylor died yesterday. She was 79, the same age as my grandmother when she passed away.
I have a short tale to tell. When I was born, apparently my mother wanted to call me Elizabeth after Elizabeth Taylor, but my father said 'No, she'll be called Julie'. It was only a few years ago that I found out why. Apparently his favorite Aunt was Julie and I'm so glad because really I can't image being an Elizabeth.
Although I loved Taylor in every movie I saw her in, I particularly enjoyed her performances in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? What an amazing woman and as one film critic said this morning - she was one of the last real Hollywood stars!
