The Department of Health Victoria reported there were 6736 cases of Pertussis (Whooping cough) in 2010, 66% of these cases were adults with the disease. At the end of January 2011 they issued an epidemic alert for this highly infectious disease and have provided a link to more information, which is available at:
Pertussis in children is often contracted through contact with adults who have it, so if you have any symptoms try to stay away from young children. They have also issued a Measles alert, so, as they say THINK MEASLES in patients presenting with a febrile rash illness.
