I painted this yesterday morning before doing the washing, shopping and cake baking. I may tweak it or I may just start another one. After writing about Domenico's painting I had another look at Edvard Munch's painting Dance of Life (1899) ~ the moon in the background, a liquid 'I' ~ its shape mirrored in the contours of the women's gowns. I am absolutely certain that both de Clario's and Munch's images were in my mind as I painted this form neither sun nor moon, a figure simultaneously divided and joined by an uneven blood red line.
