I thought I'd do a 'What I'm looking forward to' post. Given that I am entering what I refer to as my Birthday week ( I celebrate my birthday in the days preceding, on the day and the days after my Birthday ~ because trying to catch up with everyone who wants to catch up for my Birthday is impossible), I must say that I am looking forward to the coffee and lunch meetings with friends and having celebratory cake with my son and his girlfriend on the 22. I usually make a cake, rather than buy one. I'm thinking it should be absolutely decadent ~ rich chocolate with loads of chocolate icing, perhaps similar to Nigella Lawson's 'deliciously sinful chocolate fudge cake', the recipe of which I've just down-loaded from the Internet. Apart from that, I look forward every week to working closely with my indigenous Australian students, who are open and willing to accept new ideas. I'm attending a symphony orchestra performance at the Melbourne Town Hall on the 28 April and seeing the exhibitions ~ 'Rupert Bunny: Artist in Paris' and 'Top Arts: VCE 2009' at the National Gallery of Victoria soon after. I'm particularly looking forward to Bunny's delicate paintings and drawings. What would life be without art? A friend of mine, who I'll be having lunch with on my birthday said in an email message yesterday that he was grateful for all his friends. So am I. Relationships are like plants, if you don't nurture them they will wither and die.
