Addendum to yesterday's blog post

Minotaure magazine (cover) #8, 1936 - Salvador Dali

In 1990/1991 I began a novella entitled 'Interior dialogue of a minotaur' after having a strange and disturbing dream about a vertical light emitted from the sky that burnt everything in its path. It's strange because I watched the remake of War of the Worlds (Steven Spielberg, 2005) on Thursday night and the alien Tripods - three-legged walking machines emitted a kind of heat ray that killed earthlings. Perhaps the power of light is in our psyche. The piece of writing is inspired by art, particularly Surrealism and new technologies. At that time I'd just met the performance artist Stelarc, who sent my life and many of my ideas off in a new direction. In fact, Stelarc, who appeared in a dream as a wise old man who asked me if I'd ever thought of planting onions, figures in the writing. In my novella there are four characters: The Muse, a female who has access to high-end technology and who moves through space as a hologram. The Minotaur, who, from a distance looks like a half-man half-bull and wanders the empty spaces of a city long deserted. Pandora is a 'sensitive' or intuitive who has been sent by the Muse to find a code embedded within a seventeenth century painting entitled: The Last Judgment, and of course, the Programmer! It's been suggested that each of these characters are emblematic of aspects of my own psyche and I wouldn't argue with that - I've certainly felt much like the Muse as I've written her in the piece. The Minotaur (I am Taurean, the Bull) is a researcher and there are aspects of Pandora that I associate with - she is a seer and I must admit that I've had pointers or have seen events in my life long before those events occurred. From time to time I read what I've written and added or subtract from it. It's not even 7,000 words in length; in fact it's shorter than many academic articles I've written. I think the reason why it's difficult to finish is because it is creative prose, rather than based in theory, although when I read it I realise it has some of the concerns with technology evident in my theoretical writings over the years. I placed an excerpt from the piece of writing on my blog yesterday to see whether anyone would be interested in reading more. I could serialise here on my blog or could make an E-Book of it. What do you think - would you like to read more? If you would, please place a comment underneath this post. Again, thank you to everyone who reads my blog.
