Green leaf Autumn...

I try to remind myself every day of the things that I am grateful for - things that I'll never take for granted. I have a lot to look forward to this week. I'm going to see Micmacs, the latest Jean-Pierre Jeunet film this afternoon and tomorrow I'll meet three of the seven Indigenous Australian students I will be tutoring this semester. Working one to one with students is challenging, intense and rewarding and I believe that I'll learn as much from these individuals as they will from me. This week I'm also hoping to have damaged glass replaced in my lounge-room window. I might have to exercise patience in this matter, because glaziers will be flat out after the hailstorm on Saturday. Actually, one of the most amazing things about the hailstorm in the middle of a bustling city was the way that it slowed things down, people walked at a more gentle pace, strangers huddled together and talked, people helped each other and there was, in the aftermath some beauty, like the carpet of fallen green leaves that covered the length of the pavement from Bourke to Collins Street.
