Australia Day 2015 photo

This is a photo I took on Australia Day in 2015. I was about to take a photo of this mother holding her son in Swanston Street, Melbourne when he accidentally hit her in the throat. She droped him down to the ground. In that second I photographed the pain on her face and the anguish on his as he clung to her.

Oil pastel

Yesterday I began a painting that will be another version of an A4 oil pastel drawing that I did a few years back. Here's the drawing. I will post the painting when it's complete.

Brecon Charles Walsh

In memory of my long time friend Brecon Charles Walsh who passed away late last year. Photo I took of him at Federation Square in 2010.

Robber (or Assassin) Fly + Erin Powell

I wanted to share with you this amazing photograph of a Robber Fly captured by my son Erin Powell © early January 2026. Even though they are indigenous to Australia I had never seen or heard of this kind of fly before. It's just magnificent - the photo and the fly.
