VACCINATE OR ALIENATE

I envisage a sad and lonely future for individuals who have chosen not to be vaccinated against the SARS-CoV2 virus. Apart from running the risk of contracting CoViD and possibly passing it on to a family member or friend who may become sicker than they are, the worst case scenario in the long run is that they will not be able to go to a restaurant or coffee shop, attend the cinema or other group entertainment event, enter a major shopping complex or travel a certain distance from their home because they possess no Vaccine Passport.
Doctors in ICU are already angry at the amount of anti-vaccers who expect to be cared for when they become ill. It may be that in the future doctors, nurses and paramedics may refuse to help these people or triage them to receive treatment after patients presenting with heart attacks or other major health issues. It’s possible that they will also not be treated by dentists and other health care professionals who wish to protect themselves and their families.
I hope that this is not so. I hope that there  is not a dark decent into a society that divides the vaccinated from the un-vaccinated but there are consequences for every decision we make. More and more individuals in our society are demanding that we protect ourselves and others for the greater good. It’s a Utilitarian concept said most famously by Spock in Star Trek and I agree ‘The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few’.
I don’t like the way society is heading, which seems like mob rule, but it is the general public not just the government insisting upon this behavior. We in Victoria have been advised that we will be in lock down until 70 per cent of people are vaccinated and small and large business owners applaud this idea because they want their businesses to flourish. We want our lives back and most of us realize that the only way this is going to happen is if we adapt and comply as hateful as that notion is. Yes, it’s your human right to make your own decision but not if your freedom to choose infringes on the lives of others.

  1. Hey Julie,

The photo you have uploaded on Facebook of people sanitizing public touch points around Bridge Road. That's me and my team. We were doing sanitizing around that area on daily basis. I have sent you a message on Facebook. Please respond.
