I've had this head and chest cold for the past ten days or so, as well as coping with bed springs sticking in my ribs and hips, so I spent time looking at new mattresses at various establishments around my area. Finally I found a mattress and base within my price range that was comfortable. I never endorse products but in this case would like to highly recommend BEDDING WORLD in Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn (470 Whitehorse Road, Mitcham, 98740884) and in particular John, the Director of the company who was most informative and generous with his time. He delivered my new bed and base free of charge and with such graciousness. Thanks also to my friends Dave and Kalarin who removed my thirty year old base and eleven year old mattress from my bedroom into the street so it can be picked up and disposed of by the local council. They were rewarded for their fine effort with Minestrone soup and garlic bread and Apple Strudel and whipped cream for afters.
It's 10C degrees as I write this. It's now 5.05 am and I have the heater on. For those interested, the novel I'm writing is sitting at around 61,000 words and I've overcome the 'I hate it' stage'. I can say that I'm almost used to the voice in the writing and I was pleased that the short piece that I read to Leonie Osowski last Friday when she came for dinner elicited emotion, and isn't that what writing is intended to do? OK, I hope to write something more substantial on the blog soon. Its been so terribly neglected. Love to you all.
I can totally relate to your description of the misery of sleeping on an old mattress. My mattress springs began poking me and interrupting my sleep when my mattress was about 10 years old. It was such a relief to buy a new mattress. Nothing compares to the comfort of sleeping on a new mattress. I hope you are enjoying your new mattress!
